Safe Return to Play

This hiking series will (obviously!) take place outdoors, where, experts say, transmission of COVID-19 is much less likely.

All fitness levels will be comfortable; participants will be led at a 3-4km/h pace. You will enjoy meeting new members, getting in touch with nature, and learning to love the great outdoors!

This group will meet current social gathering limits. Hike Ontario is recommending no larger than groups of 10 including the instructor.

All participants must stay 6 feet apart at all times, including before, during and after hiking. Carpooling to locations is not permitted unless from same household bubble.

As this is an outdoor activity, masks are not required, though masks are strongly encouraged if the group finds themselves in a situation where remaining 6 feet apart is challenging or not possible.

The hike leader will have hand sanitizer available. Participants are also encouraged to bring their own.

All participants are asked to bring their own snacks and water bottle. No sharing.

All other Safe Return to Play Guidelines must also be followed. Please read.

What to Expect Sunsets, sunrises and sweet new trails. This hike series will explore a selection of London's Environmentally Significant Areas and other unique trail systems in and around the city.                  Hiking Rules

1) Check the weather, dress appropriately, tell someone where you are going and for how long, and have some fun!

2) Recommended Equipment: Participants are required to bring their own personal equipment/gear if they should feel the need, such as poles, hat and sunglasses and a rain jacket. Proper footwear is recommended (firm soled hiker) as hikes will take place on uneven ground and may include puddles and mud. We also strongly recommend bringing sunscreen and bug spray along with 1L of drinking water in a back pack on every trek.

3) Dogs: IF all registered members are comfortable with dogs, and IF trails allow dogs, they are welcome to join ON LEASH. Canine participation is not guaranteed at time of registration. No dogs allowed on the first hike (this is when participant canine comfort levels will be determined.)

The hiking series often takes place on the best marked and unmarked trails in and around the Forest City. Exact locations will be provided to all paid registrants after the registration deadline and before the first hike (***Note: trail locations may change within 48 hours depending on conditions made during the pre-hike. All changes will be communicated as early as possible).  Please note that personal transportation is required as not all trails are accessible by public transportation. We may explore trails that are up to 30 minutes outside of the city's core.

Possible trails include:

TVTA trails (Heatley, Miller Rd), Meadowlily Woods, Warbler Woods, Kains Woods, and Medway Valley Heritage Forest, Gibbons Park, Killally Meadows, Westminister Ponds and Sifton Bog but may also include some trails just outside city limits.

***Location information is as known at time of posting.  Locations are subject to change at any time. Additional locations may be added to accommodate demand.**
