Safe Return to Play

This league will play outdoors.

Per local health guidelines, team sport leagues cannot exceed a MAXIMUM OF 50 PARTICIPANTS. That means that FCSSC must ensure that All Sorts of Sports teams are limited to 8 people on the roster and assigned to a pool with MAX 6 teams total (totaling 48 players max in the league). Teams in this scenario will only play the other 5 teams in their pool for the duration of the season.

All players must follow the at-field signage and check in with a game coordinator for safety updates, sanitizing and/or to report team absences upon arrival.

There must be NO CONTACT between players at any time. All participants must stay 2m apart at all times.

All participants are encouraged to wear a face mask upon arrival and departure from the fields as turnover can be a busy time with lots of people in the same space at the same time. Masks may be removed during game play.

Teams are asked to set up team "beaches" on the grassy area around the play space when substituting or taking a water break. Spread out as much as possible.

All teams must assign a Health Ambassador who will be named Co-Captain and who will monitor and assist members of his/her own team to follow the rule modifications, as well as FCSSC's Safe Return to Play Guidelines.

The on-site Game Coordinator will have hand sanitizer available. Participants are also encouraged to bring their own.

All participants are asked to bring their own personal equipment and water bottle. FCSSC will provide and sanitize game play equipment such as balls & discs.

All other Safe Return to Play Guidelines must also be followed. Please read.

What to Expect

All games will play for 55 minutes.

Game times can change weekly and will be equalized for all teams throughout the season.

Game locations will be very consistent throughout the season due to limited facility permits and local health guidelines.

You are playing for bragging rights this season! Score Reporting and Standings will be kept but there will not be playoffs, or prizes this season. Spirit Points always count. We WILL award the Steam Whistle Spirit Award this season, as usual!

Players in this co-ed league are a mix of new and experienced players, with varying skill levels, all playing with a for-fun attitude. Self-officiated (no referees) play governed by FCSSC’s unique Spirit Point System. The most fun & sportsmanlike teams have the greatest chance of winning the coveted Steam Whistle Spirit Award!

This season we plan to play:

     All Sorts of Sports Rules

1. Pre-Game – Spirit Points, Equipment, Game Time, Defaults, Fields

Play that is competitive, overly aggressive, rough and/or unsportsmanlike such as pushing, shoving, elbowing, shouldering, tripping, hacking, slashing, sliding, tackling, ball blasting, chirping, name calling, threats and intimidation, is prohibited and will not be tolerated by FCSSC.  FCSSC IS FIRST-AND-FOREMOST-FOR-FUN. ANY ROUGH OR PHYSICAL PLAY WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE EXPULSION FROM THE GAME, THE LEAGUE, THE CLUB AND/OR ALL OF THE ABOVE.  All players should go out of their way to avoid contact with other players and/or eliminate actions or behaviours that could jeopardize player safety.  If accidental contact occurs it is expected that players will apologize for that contact, ensure everyone is alright and stop the game to seek appropriate help as required.  THIS RULE SUPERSEDES ALL OTHERS!

Spirit Points: An integral part of all the sports that the Forest City Sport & Social Club offers. It is based on the primary focus of the FCSSC, which is sportsmanship and to have FUN...NOT on competitive and aggressive sport.

Equipment/Set-Up: FCSSC Game Coordinators will provide all equipment for each game.  Teams are welcome to bring their own balls for warm-up and practice.  In addition, FCSSC’s Game Coordinator will keep score when possible (ie. Only one game in the gym at a time).  If the FCSSC Game Coordinator is unable to keep score, we ask that each team select a player to assist in keeping score. Each team should bring both light and dark coloured shirts to each and every game.

2. In Game – General Rules

FCSSC Game Coordinators will highlight the main rules for each sport on the night it is being played.

*Please review rules associated with each sport prior to each game.

3. Post-Game – Score Reporting, Spirit Points, Departure

Score Reporting:  Captains from each team are responsible for reporting or confirming game scores within 48 hours of the completion of the game.   Scores can be reported or confirmed via our website at

Spirit Points: Captains are also responsible for submitting a “Spirit” score for the opposing team each week.  This is done when the score is reported or confirmed on the FCSSC website.  Spirit points allow you to score your opponent based on your experience playing against them.  You can score them based on how fun they were to play against, did they show good sportsmanship, did they follow and know the rules, did they arrive on time etc.   All teams should shoot for PERFECT Spirit Points!

Departure:  Each week after your game, it is important to leave the court in a timely manner.   Teams could be playing after you and will need to get their game started on time.   It is also possible that the facility could be closing upon the completion of your game and all staff and FCSSC members will need to depart the building at that time.

We plan to play All Sorts of Sports at one of: Southwest Optimist Park and/or St Anne Catholic School.

***FCSSC reserves the right to change game locations when and as needed to accommodate demand, and/or to ensure that our play spaces meet FCSSC's standards for safety & suitability.***
