When, how and why did FCSSC start in London?
FCSSC Founder & Director, Kyla Woodcock, started FCSSC in August of 2009.  She lived in Ottawa for a few years and played with the Ottawa Sport & Social Club while she was living there. She experienced the fun, friends, fitness and connection that FCSSC now offers to our members.  When she moved here she missed the sport & social club experience, felt the need and saw the opportunity to bring “Recess For Adults” to London. 

How do I become a member?
Anyone who participates in FCSSC leagues or events is considered to be a member. Becoming a member is as easy as signing up for the league or event that interests you. Is there a Membership Fee?
No. We have a pay-for-what-you-play model.  The only cost to you to join is the registration fee for the league or event of your choice.

What sports do you play?
FCSSC plays four seasons per year and offers 30-35 different sports/programs each season.  We offer everything from Curling in the winter to Softball in the Summer. Check out our Sports Listings page to see what's available to play in the upcoming season!

Are your leagues co-ed?
Yes. Most of FCSSC’s leagues and events are co-ed. This makes our leagues totally accessible to everyone, male, female, couples and singles. There are tons of people to meet and new friends to make in FCSSC.

Do you have referees?
No. All of FCSSC’s leagues are self-officiated and recreational. We prioritize fun and player safety.  We use a Spirit Point system to encourage honesty and sportsmanship on the field. FCSSC also employs Game Coordinators who attend each game*. They are there to help players and captains understand and play by the rules and also to help resolve any dispute that may arise, however rare.
*Please Note: There will NOT be a staff at each softball game. We have a roaming Game Coordinator for softball leagues and captains are provided with contact information to call with concerns if GC is not present during their game.

What skill level is required to play in FCSSC leagues?
FCSSC’s leagues are first-and-foremost-for-fun – we welcome players at all skill levels.  We offer recreational and intermediate level leagues to accommodate players of all skill and experience levels. We do not offer competitive leagues.  Though our leagues are divided by skill level, we expect all of our members to play with a recreational, sportsmanlike and for-fun attitude.

How old are FCSSC members?
Most FCSSC members are between 25-50 years of age. The minimum age to play is 19. All adults between 19 and young-at-heart are encouraged to join us!

How do I sign up?
To sign up for leagues go to the Sports Offered page.  Or if you are more interested in a class, like Boot Camp, go to our Classes Offered page.  If the registration deadline has passed and to inquire if there are any spots available in league that have already started to play contact the FCSSC office at or 519.439.4263. To sign up for an FCSSC Tournament, Outdoor Adventure or Social Event go to the Tournaments and Events page.

Can I sign up on my own or do I need to register a whole team?
FCSSC welcomes registrations from individuals, small groups and full teams. If you register as an individual or a small group we will roster you with other individual or small group registrants so that together you make a full team. It is sometimes the case that we do not have enough individual players to form a full team – in that case FCSSC will offer you a spot in another one of our leagues (of your choice) or a full refund of your registration fees.

I want to play on the same team as my friends, can I do that?
Absolutely. After you fill in your registration form and are logged in, you may access your task bar at the top of your page. Under "My Account", there is a "Ask Friends to Join Team" option. Just select your league and be sure to complete the information in that section including the first name, last name and email address for the person or people on the same team with whom you would like to play.  Your friend(s) will receive than email inviting him/her/them to join you on the same team.  Sending that email also creates a note in our system that will ensure that you and your friend are rostered on the same team. If your friend(s) are already registered to play in the league they can DO NOTHING, simply disregard the email. FCSSC will take care of it from there. For all details, click here.

Can I sign up more than one person at a time, using the same registration form?
Yes, but this is dependent on the event you wish to register for. If you are registering for a sport or class, each "Individual" must have a separate email address so that they can be contacted regarding league information and rostered correctly to the league. However, if you wish to purchase tickets to an event such as a wrap party, you can take advantage of our shopping cart feature and purchase multiple tickets. Alternatively, you may contact FCSSC at 519.439.4263 or and we will process one payment for all the tickets that you wish to buy.

If I sign up am I guaranteed a spot in the league?
All members who sign up BEFORE the registration deadline and the league sells out are guaranteed a spot in the league of their choice. We do everything we can to find enough facilities to accommodate everyone who wants to play. NOTE THE EXCEPTION: It is sometimes the case that we do not have enough individual players, or enough of one gender in a coed league, to form a full team.  In that case FCSSC will offer the individual registrants a spot in another one of our leagues (your choice) or a full refund for that season’s registration fees.

How do I sign the waiver?
All players must sign a waiver before stepping on the field/court, including subs. The best way is to complete the waiver online. You can also print and sign the waiver. Click here for a printable version of the waiver. If you print and sign the waiver be sure to give it to the FCSSC staff member at your game before playing.

Where are my games going to be?
The majority of games are played in gymnasiums or on courts/fields/diamonds that are within a 30 minute drive from downtown London. Most facilities are on the bus route and almost all have parking. You will likely play at a few different locations during the course of the season. FCSSC does not announce our final locations until AFTER REGISTRATION CLOSES because our game locations are determined by the size of the league. More teams = more gyms/courts/fields/diamonds.

How do I see the schedule of my games?
Once your registration is complete (paid) and the schedules are posted on-line you will be able to log-in (your username is your email address, you choose your password when you register) to a secured section of the FCSSC website and view your schedule for the entire season. The schedule includes date, game time, team match ups and game location, with a link to a map, driving directions and parking or other facility details. Schedules are posted only AFTER THE SEASON REGISTRATION DEADLINE to minimize the need for schedule changes and to also minimize the chance that members go to the wrong place/wrong time because they missed a schedule change. Schedules may change at any time due to facility closures, permit cancellations and team defaults, we always recommend logging in on game day to confirm time and location. FCSSC will only send email notifications about changes if there was a change on game day. All teams and players are responsible for weekly confirmaion of their own schedule.

Some teams may not be able to see their schedule because not enough members of the team have signed the waiver. FCSSC's Minimum Waiver Compliance policy requires that at least the number of players required on the court at one time are present on the roster in our system and have signed the waiver, either electronically or on paper.  If your team does not meet the minimum waiver requirements (for example, 4 people on a basketball team, or 6 people on a court volleyball team), the schedules will not be visible to you. If you cannot see your schedule, talk to your team captain about getting more members signed up on the roster or call the FCSSC office for help to do this.

I might be interested in being a Team Captain.  What do Captains have to do?
FCSSC does everything we can to make the Captains job super easy. Team Captains are asked to:

  • Complete the team roster on-line so all teammates can see the schedule by simply logging in
  • Ensure all team mates have signed the FCSSC Waiver
  • Attend the Kick-Off meeting (if offered) to get league information and equipment (only for softball)
  • Bring equipment (softball only) and a first-aid kit to each game
  • Ensure all team members know and play by the rules
  • Report spirit point and game scores after each game

Do you track scores and post standings?
Yes!* After each game team captains receive an email requesting that they log in to the FCSSC website to report both spirit points and the game scores. All score-reporting is tracked and standings generated and posted on the website.
Please Note: We do NOT keep scores and standings for sports and activities that do not require it (eg. boot camp, one hit wonders, etc.) or hat leagues.

If my team wins, what do we get?
At the end of each season, and for each league, the winning teams are awarded an FCSSC Championship Prize. FCSSC also presents the Steam Whistle Spirit Award to the one team in all of FCSSC leagues that season with the greatest fun factor, best sportsmanship and highest spirit points. The prizes are presented at the end of the season.

What’s the “social” part of the Forest City Sport & Social Club?
FCSSC encourages all of our members to continue the fun that they’ve had on the court, off the court, after the game. To make that easy FCSSC has partnered with fantastic pubs across the city who welcome us like Norm at Cheers and offer our members exclusive deals including free food with a minimum spend. We also work with some of our other great partners to offer social events like an Evening of Beer Tasting, Hiking Days, Singles Mingles, Professional Sport Games, Tubing and Flight Nights (wine–tasting).

I’m not in to sports. Is there another way that I can get involved?
Absolutely! FCSSC offers a variety of non-sport programs and a few special events every season. Check out FCSSC’s Tournaments and Events page for details of all the events that we have planned! If you have an event idea that you would like FCSSC to present please email it to

What is the REFUND POLICY?
Please check the FCSSC Refund Policy for complete details. In short, FCSSC will offer a partial refund (less administrative fee) to anyone who requests a refund, in writing, BEFORE THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE, unless the league or event is sold out. No refunds will be issued after the registration deadline.

What is the foul weather policy?
FCSSC Plays Rain (Snow) or Shine! All FCSSC games go ahead in the rain/snow (see foul weather policy for thunder & lightning instructions), so please plan to attend all games, as scheduled. In the very rare instance that a field or diamond is closed before game time due to flooding conditions FCSSC will update the on-line schedule, email affected league players (so be sure to subscribe to our emails), and post on Facebook. Please make it a habit to check the schedule before heading out to your game every week. Cheers to a great season ahead!

What if my team can't make a scheduled game?
Team captains are responsible for informing their opponents of any defaults prior to the scheduled game. Please use the captain contact list under the "My Team" tab once logged into your player profile to inform your opponents that you will not make the game.
