COVID-19 Updates

March 1, 2022 (updated March 9)

On February 14 the Ontario government announced that it is moving up the second phase of its COVID-19 reopening plan and, starting March 1, will allow businesses and other organizations to choose whether proof of vaccination will continue to be required to enter their facilities.

At the time of registration for Winter leagues, our members signed up with the understanding that they would be sharing the court/field with only fully vaccinated players. For this reason, and at the option given by the Ontario Ministry of Health, FCSSC is continuing to require all players in Winter season leagues, INCLUDING SUBS, be fully vaccinated. Make a promise, keep a promise. That's how we roll. Winter league members, and subs, should continue to come to league play prepared to show proof of vaccination at the entry.

For the Spring season we are asking that all Spring season registrants be fully vaccinated and prepared to show proof of vaccination at the entrance to our play spaces. Here's why:

  • FCSSC is playing indoors at facilities that we do not own and therefore we must comply with the proof of vaccination choices that our facility providers make. Some of the recreational facilities where FCSSC will play have chosen to continue requiring vaccination checks at this time.
  • Leagues are only assigned to specific play spaces once registration closes so we cannot guarantee facility access to unvaccinated individuals at the time of registration.
  • New play spaces continue to be added to accommodate demand for league play. Whatever their vaccination policy, it must be followed.
  • Facilities for league play can change during the season for a number of reasons. Players must be able to provide proof of vaccination at any facility at which the league will play.
  • Facilities can change their proof of vaccination policies at any time.

FCSSC's COVID Credit & Refund Policy clearly states that there will be no credits and no refunds for individuals who are denied entry to a facility or teams that default because roster members and/or subs cannot access the play space.

There is still so much uncertainty. Being fully vaccinated is the only way to ensure that our members are always allowed to play, no matter the facility. Should you choose to register for FCSSC Spring leagues as an unvaccinated individual, the risk is yours.

Per the Ministry of Health and local Public Health authority guidelines, physical distancing and masking while indoors (but not while actively playing your sport) continue to be required until further notice.

Thanks so much for your understanding, cooperation at our play facilities and continued kindness to other members and our staff.

January 20, 2022

Today the Ontario Government announced a staged lifting of COVID-related restrictions in the province, beginning on January 31, 2022.

We appreciate your patience while we assess the impact of this announcement for FCSSC, and connect with all of our facility providers to determine their readiness for FCSSC's return to play.

We are optimistic that most, if not all, of FCSSC's (in-person) leagues and programs will begin in early February. All virtual programs will continue, as planned.

Please stay tuned to our socials (@fcssc) and your inbox. We will share more information with you as soon as we can. Thank you for your continued understanding and support.

January 3, 2022 (12pm)

Today the Ontario Government announced a (minimum) 21-day closure of recreational fitness & sport facilities that will begin this Wednesday (January 5) to help reduce the spread of #COVID19. The order's restrictions will be in effect until at least January 26, 2022. During this time indoor sports leagues and fitness activities (including bootcamp and yoga) are not permitted.

We anticipated the possibility of an announcement like this and planned an 8-9 week Winter 2022 season accordingly (instead of our usual 15-17 week schedule) to ensure that we had room on the calendar to delay the start of Winter leagues without forcing us to shorten the number of games in the season. We will begin the Winter 2022 season as soon as regulations allow us to do so, hopefully by the beginning of February. We will announce the new season start date as soon as available information allows us to do so.

Our Refund and COVID Assurance Policies remain in effect, as always. To be clear, FCSSC will play our Winter 2022 season in full; we will just start later than planned as a result of today's announcement. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

For now, please follow the new health regulations, get fully vaccinated, respect physical distance requirements, wear your mask, and stay home as much as possible. Be safe. The more we do to curb transmission now the healthier our community will be and the sooner we can return to sport.

Thank you for your continuing support of FCSSC during these uncertain times.

October 25, 2021

On October 22 the Ontario Government announced its plan to Safely Reopen and Manage COVID-19 for the long-term. Effective October 25 at 12:01 a.m., Ontario will lift capacity limits in the vast majority of settings where proof of vaccination is required, including sport & recreational facilities. This lifting of capacity limits does not impact play with FCSSC in any way. Our leagues will continue to play, as planned, for the remainder of the season.

Over the next six months, Ontario plans to slowly and incrementally lift all remaining public health and workplace safety measures, including wearing face coverings in indoor public settings and removing the provincial requirement for proof of vaccination. This plan does not change any of our plans for the Fall 2021 season but will positively impact play in FCSSC's Winter 2022 season.

Please remember to err on the side of safety and follow all MLHU Guidelines for indoor COVID Safety while at your play location:

  • Complete your COVID Self-Screening before leaving home
  • Wear your mask whenever you are not actively participating in the game. Understandable exceptions include catching one's breath after exertion and while drinking from one's water bottle. We recommend wearing shorts/pants with pockets (except in flag football) for easy storage/access to your mask throughout the game.
  • Maintain 6ft of physical distance from anyone else (on the sidelines or in the facility) when not actively participating in the game. We understand that some play locations have very limited space. When you can't achieve physical distance, always wear your mask.
  • Use the hand sanitizer that is provided as often as you can throughout the game

Thank you for your commitment to safe play, your cooperation and your kindness. #JUSTPLAY

October 22, 2021

On September 22, 2021 the Ontario government mandated proof of double vaccination for anyone entering a recreational/sport facility. When FCSSC began indoor play as part of our Fall leagues on October 12 we asked all of our members to bring Proof of Double Vaccination plus Photo ID to every game.

THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR MEMBERS FOR YOUR COOPERATION & KINDNESS while we navigated this new process.

On October 15-17 the Ontario government released a vaccination receipt with QR code that could be downloaded by all Ontarians, along with an app, called Verify Ontario, that could read the QR codes on a vaccination receipt and instantly confirm double vaccination (or not). Starting October 22, all businesses had the option of using the new app and QR-coded receipts to check the vaccination status of their patrons.

FCSSC will happily check your proof of vaccination receipt, whether you provide us with your original vaccination receipt, or present us with your QR-coded receipt. Unfortunately, we cannot use the app and scan the QR code at all of the locations where we play but we can still read your vaccination information off the QR-coded receipts. So, please continue to bring whichever vaccination receipt you wish to present, along with your photo ID, and have it ready to present when you approach the check-in desk each week at your play location.

Your continued cooperation and kindness is so appreciated!
